DWAYNE SIMPSON FOUNDATION CIC

About Dwayne Simpson Foundation CIC

Who we are

Dwayne Simpson Foundation (DSF) is a Community Interest Company (CIC), incorporated on 19 April 2015 (Company No. 09549468) in England and Wales.

As a CIC, DSF is legally structured to serve the community — its profits, assets and programmes are dedicated to social benefit, not private profit.

Our Purpose & Why We Exist

We were established to tackle the root causes and consequences of youth violence, trauma and social marginalisation.

We believe in empowering young people — especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds — through safe spaces, supportive relationships, education, mentorship, and creative and sporting opportunities.

We aim to transform pain into power: to help young people overcome trauma, build self-worth, discover their potential, and contribute positively to their communities.

We strive to build community resilience — bridging generations, fostering healing, promoting unity, and giving young people a voice.

These foundational aims reflect our deep commitment to youth empowerment, mental health and community healing.

Our Approach & Core Activities

DSF delivers its mission through a holistic, trauma-informed, multi-strand model. Key elements of our work include:

Safe Spaces & Trauma Support Hubs — providing young people with places where they can find emotional and psychological support, healing, and connection.

Youth Empowerment & Mentorship — connecting young people with role models, mentors, group sessions, and peer support to build self-esteem, leadership and resilience.

Education, Skills & Employability Programmes — offering training, workshops, and tailored support to help under-25s build skills, access opportunities, and move toward sustainable futures.

Sport, Creative Arts & Recreational Activities — using boxing, team sports, arts, music and creative expression as tools for healing, discipline, and community-building.

Community Engagement & Dialogue (Ubuntu Model) — fostering intergenerational and community conversations, shared ownership, and collective responsibility for community safety, healing and growth.

Advocacy, Awareness & Public Voice — raising awareness about underlying causes of youth violence, trauma, social inequality; amplifying youth voices; campaigning for systemic change; collaborating with partners (police, local authorities, funders, media) to influence policy and practice.

Our Values & Principles

Empathy & Healing: Recognising trauma, listening without judgment, offering compassion.

Empowerment & Agency: Building capacity, resilience and self-determination among young people.

Community & Unity: Strengthening bonds, restoring trust, building collective responsibility and care.

Integrity & Transparency: As a CIC, we operate under an asset-lock; all profits, grants and donations are reinvested to serve our social mission.

Sustainability & Accountability: We maintain robust governance, financial planning, safeguarding protocols, and long-term sustainability strategies — ensuring our work can grow and have lasting impact.

Respect & Inclusion: Valuing diversity, ensuring safe and inclusive spaces for all young people, regardless of background.

Why a CIC?

Choosing to be a Community Interest Company enables DSF to combine the flexibility of a limited company with a firm commitment to community benefit. A CIC structure ensures:

Legal protection and limited liability for directors.

That assets and profits are “locked” for community benefit (asset lock).

Transparency and accountability: we report annually to the regulator, demonstrating that we continue to meet the “community interest test.”

The ability to access grants, collaborate with statutory bodies and social investors, and operate enterprise-like activities that feed into our social mission.

Our Impact & Vision for the Future

Over time, DSF aims to:

Offer more youth hubs, trauma-informed services, and safe spaces across the community.

Expand employability, training and skills programmes to reach more under-25s with limited opportunities.

Grow community engagement activities — intergenerational dialogues, community-led healing, and collective prevention of youth violence.

Amplify the voices of young people in media, policy and public discourse: ensuring they are heard, respected and part of the solution.

Advocate for systemic change — working with funders, local authorities, schools, policing bodies and other stakeholders to support long-term social transformation.

How You Can Support / Get Involved

Donate or Fund: Contributions help sustain and expand our programmes supporting youth hubs, counselling, workshops, arts and sport initiatives.

Partner / Collaborate: We work with local authorities, funders, corporate donors, community groups, and national bodies to deliver services, shape strategy, and scale impact.

Volunteer & Mentor: Experienced professionals, community members, survivors of trauma who’ve healed your lived experience, time and commitment can help guide and support younger generations.

Advocate & Amplify: Help us share our messages, advocate for structural change, raise awareness of underlying issues, campaign for safer and equitable communities.

DWAYNAMICS BOXING GYM

Dwaynamics Boxing Gym is a community-driven, England Boxing–accredited gym dedicated to empowering young people and strengthening families in Brixton and the wider Lambeth community. Founded by Pastor Lorraine Jones Burrell MBE in honour of her late son, Dwayne Simpson, the gym stands as a powerful legacy of hope, healing, and positive transformation.

More than a boxing facility, Dwaynamics is a safe, nurturing space where discipline, confidence, and wellbeing are built through sport, mentorship, and community support. Our qualified coaches provide high-quality training for beginners through to competitive amateur boxers, ensuring young people of all abilities can access structured, professional development.

Alongside athletic training, the gym offers life-skills mentoring, personal development workshops, and trauma-informed support. Many of our young members come from disadvantaged backgrounds, and Dwaynamics plays a vital role in reducing violence, providing positive role models, and creating pathways to opportunity.

Located on Belinda Road in Loughborough Junction the gym also hosts local events, outreach programmes, school partnerships, and sessions that bring together families, police, and community organisations at Dwaynamics Community Centre just 10 minutes away in Loughborough Park. Every punch thrown at Dwaynamics carries a message: pain can be channelled, purpose can be found, and every young person deserves to rise.

Dwaynamics Community Centre Activities

Dwaynamics Stay n Play Project offers parents and carers with children age 0 – 4 years who live in Lambeth to come into a fully equipped space in our Community Centre to engage with their children through play.  Through research it has been discovered that play gives children different sensory, physical and cognitive experiences. Experiences build connections in the brain, which helps children develop physically, cognitively, socially and emotionally. It's important for children to have plenty of different types of play experiences.
